European Identity and Cloud Conference 2024: The Hub for Digital Identities
28. August 2024
The European Identity and Cloud Conference (EIC) in Berlin, held from June 4-7, 2024, once again served as the central gathering for experts, users, and tech enthusiasts in the field of digital identities. With over 1,500 participants and more than 230 sessions, the conference offered a wealth of information, discussions, and innovations. The focus was on the latest developments and challenges related to digital identities, cloud technologies, and their everyday applications.
A Highlight: The Digital Construction Site Access Presentation
A standout moment was the presentation by our colleague, Azita Husseini-Nejad, alongside Franziska Meilhammer from Lindner/tibe.io, where they showcased a practical application of decentralized identities. Titled "Digital Construction Site Access inGo," they introduced an innovative solution based on esatus' SOWL. This solution allows for digital and secure management of access permissions to construction sites, significantly improving both safety and efficiency. The presentation captured the audience's attention and effectively demonstrated the real-world potential of decentralized identities.
Panel Discussion: Trust in Digital Interactions
Another key event at EIC 2024 was the panel discussion featuring our CIO, Andre Kudra, a board member of the Trust Over IP Foundation, alongside Executive Director Judith Fleenor. The discussion focused on trust in digital interactions and how to achieve maximum interoperability with a minimum set of practical "trustworthy" protocols. This topic is increasingly critical as trust and interoperability in the digital space become more urgent. The experts highlighted the need for standards that are not only technologically advanced but also practical and widely applicable.
Summary and Outlook
EIC 2024 once again underscored the importance of collaboration between experts, users, and technology developers in advancing digital identities. The solutions presented and discussions held provided deep insights into the current challenges and future of the industry. The presentation on digital construction site access and the discussion on trust in digital interactions emphasized the importance of innovative approaches and international cooperation. The conference made it clear that the future of digital identities will be shaped by the close interplay of technology, trust, and practical applicability.
